Clubs in need of a new tartan track or synthetic grass pitch can approach the NRW.Bank and KfW Bankengruppe for a loan with low interest rates to finance sports facilities.
The banks have been working closely together with installing company Polytan for many years.
Loans are available for non-profit sports organizations that are member of the Landessportbund Nordrhein-Westfalen e.V. Providing the local municipality has approved the project, the loan can be used for the construction of a wide variety of sports facilities, however, projects where SBR infill material is used cannot be funded through this loan.
Crumb rubber is considered an environmental risk in Germany as the leaching of zinc and other materials can affect the surrounding environment.
It is interesting to know that SBR granules and PUR-coated SBR granules are not classified by law as harmful to health. They are considered to be harmless to health if they comply with the strict maximum PAH values of the REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006. The European Union is the only legislator in the world that limits the use of SBR granules by limit values.
Polytan has always recommended using newly produced EPDM rubber.
The extent of funding is largely related to the benefits of the loan. NRW.BANK offers a cost absorption of up to 100 percent, with a maximum of 10 million euros. Only one application per project is possible. In addition, NRW.BANK has nothing against joint financing with partners. Thus, the credit can also be combined with crowdfunding revenue or additional sportships.
NRW.BANK is securing a fixed interest rate of 10 years for sport venues with a 10, 15, 20 or 30 year repayment term.
